At present, the members of the Institute of Building Testing are actively engaged in the following research topics:
- Shrinkage, creep, and crack development in concrete materials
 - Image analysis of surface features of ordinary and alkali-activated fine-grained materials utilising deep learning pixel classification models.
 - Fracture properties of quasi-brittle materials
 - Freeze-thaw resistance and related durability properties of concrete materials
 - Mechanical and durability properties of low-carbon concrete
 - Utilisation of resonance and ultrasonic methods for the assessment of the structural defects and uniformity of the concrete members
 - Dynamic response of structures and structural members
 - Effect of the recycled aggregate on the durability, service life and sustainability of concrete structures
 - Properties and behaviour of composite rebars
 - Specification of the properties of masonry elements intended for the reconstruction of monuments
 - Utilisation and effectiveness of non-destructive methods in in-situ diagnostics
 - Diagnostics methods for timber structures
 - On-site diagnostics
